Rev. Rabon L. Turner is a native of
Flint, Michigan. He received his early education in the
same city and graduated from Flint Central High School
in May of 1991. He went on to further his education at
Wiley College in Marshall, Texas where he received a
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with an emphasis in Social
Work in 1995. While attending Wiley College Rev. Turner
accepted his call into the gospel ministry and preached
his initial sermon on April 18, 1993. Upon completion of
his degree at Wiley College Rev. Turner attended
Oklahoma City University where he received a Master of
Arts degree in Religion in December of 1999. Rev. Rabon
Turner has completed post-graduate work at the
University of Oklahoma and is currently pursuing a
Doctor of Theology degree from International Theological
Seminary located in Bradenton, Florida.
He was licensed as a minister in
December of 1993 at the Guiding Light Baptist Church of
Flint, Michigan. On January 19, 2003 he was ordained to
the Gospel Ministry at the Unity Baptist Church in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma under the direction of Rev. Dr.
Eric A. Mayes, Jr. Pastor Turner served as supply pastor
at BeeBe Chapel C.M.E. Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma and
Ware Chapel C.M.E. Church in Earlsboro, Oklahoma until
he received his calling to Pastor the First Baptist
Church of Weleetka, Oklahoma. After his arrival the
church experienced phenomenal growth in membership at
which time the church operational budget doubled.
Pastor Turner was called to Pastor
the historic New Hope Missionary Baptist Church located
in Evansville, Indiana after the retirement of Rev. Dr.
W. R. Brown, Sr. Upon arrival, the church has doubled in
attendance, giving and the Lord is truly blessing New
Hope to be a powerful force in the community.
Pastor Turner is a 32nd
degree Mason and a member of Alaraf Temple Shrine No. 20 and a proud member of Alpha
Phi Fraternity, Inc. Pastor Turner has held numerous
positions and most recently served as President of
Pastor’s Conference in the Southwest Creek Landmark
District Association. Currently serves on the Mayors
Downtown Implementation Committee, Volunteers of
America, Faith Based Initiative of the State of Indiana
and President of the New Hope Development Corporation.
Pastor Turner is married to the former Florence
"Mia" Johnson and the proud father of one
daughter Raylin Turner and one son Rabon Turner II. Last but not least, Pastor
Turner is a blessed and grateful child of the King. |
